RESULTS
Situation:
During the first three weeks of the semester, I worked independently on the research and design of my portfolio. In doing so, I asked for feedback from my semester coach Bardt.
Task:
My task was to research, design and validate design choices made. To turn the design into a self-programmed user-friendly portfolio website on which I can post evidence that proves my learning outcomes.
Action:
I started by creating a project plan. In which I described how I wanted to approach this project and what research questions I wanted to conduct with the corresponding research methods. I have done this so that neither myself or Bardt will face any surprises, because what is expected of me has already been checked in advance the project plan ensures an organised approach which makes it easier to achieve my goal.
Results:
This way of working has worked well for me. I completed the research on time within the first three weeks. This was due to planning certain phases and asking for help immediately when needed. Developing, as expected, would be done simultaneously with the group project so therefore I could fully focus on designing for the first 3 weeks.
Reflection:
Overall, I thought it went very well, I got everything finished on time and working as expected. I am therefore very proud of the final result. Despite the fact that I had expected to start working with a new framework during this project, I am glad I didn't (yet). This has allowed me to improve my current knowledge of Javascript before moving on to the next step. I can put this new knowledge to good use during my graduation internship. Next time, though, I would still like to try using a framework to expand my knowledge.
CONCLUSION
What did I learn?
I learnt that by creating a research question and multiple sub-questions arise to research. These research can be done using CMD methods. By conducting different research methods, clear conclusions can be drawn.
Did I achieve my learning outcomes?
Yes, this semester I wanted to broaden my knowledge of Figma, Javascript and preferably know more about frameworks.
How did I do that?
By indicating what I wanted to learn during the division of tasks and by giving me the space to do so.
What do I want to change and what do I want to keep doing the same?
I would mainly proceed in the same way, by first drawing up a project plan with clear research questions and sub-questions. This ensured that I knew exactly what I wanted to research.
So what are my learning objectives for the future?
To continue developing my design and code knowledge to become a better media designer.
LEARNING OUTCOME
Learning outcome 6: Personal leadership
By analysing the user and making a conclusion about the received test results, I can advise on the most suitable solution.
